David Simpson, sole principal, founded SCM in Laguna Niguel, California (1999). He received a BA in Economics from Bethany College (1977) and an MBA from Arizona State University (1978). He received a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation (1993) from CFA Institute.

While starting SCM, Simpson taught security analysis, investments, mutual funds, CFA Exam preparation and financial planning as an Instructor in UCLA’s Anderson School of Management (University of California, Los Angeles) (1998-2005).
Simpson serves as the 2016 Chairman on the Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (2013-present). He also serves on the Investment, Banking and Audit Committee for the City of Laguna Niguel (2013, 2015-present). He is CFO of ClubFace Golf (swing trainer manufacturer), member of the Laguna Niguel Historical Society and co-founder/sponsor (2000) of Pacific DoubleFive Investment Club where he serves as Vice President.
Prior to SCM, Simpson was Vice President at Imperial Trust Company in Los Angeles (1995-1999), serving as senior investment officer and portfolio manager. He was a Trust Investment Officer with Security Pacific National Bank in Newport Beach (1990-1995), serving as a portfolio manager for individual and institutional clients.
